Sweet Tooth

Do You Have A Sweet Tooth?

Show of hands… Who out there has a sweet tooth in the evening after dinner? You know, when you turn into an irrational sugar-fiend where you make horrible or disgraceful dietary choices. Anyone?

I call this “sugar blindness”.

The reality is that once your blood sugar levels drop, your brain is smart enough to know that you need sugar to function, so it will ‘cause’ you to get it – By any means necessary.

It is also a sign that either you ate too many carbohydrates during the day or you are having trouble balancing your blood sugar due to insulin resistance, high stress hormone levels or glandular exhaustion.

In any case, in the event you experience this blood sugar drop and you want to protect yourself from this “sugar blindness”, I find it very helpful to have to little miracles on hand; Gymnema leaf extract and Inositol.

Once the sugar blindness starts to kick in, I chew up about 3 to 6 Inositol tablets and then swallow 1 to 2 Gymnema tablets.

Gymnema is a woody climbing shrub native to India and Africa, the leaves of which are used to make medicine. Gymnema has a long history of use in India’s Ayurvedic medicine and the Hindi name, gurmar, means “destroyer of sugar.”

It is most commonly used for diabetes, metabolic syndrome, weight loss, and cough. We offer Gymnema in the form of an herbal extract tablet.

Inositol has sometimes been called Vitamin B8 and is naturally found in plants and animals. Inositol is a carbohydrate, has a chemical structure similar like glucose and tastes sweet but the sweetness is far less than common sugar (sucrose). It is believed that Inositol quickly enters the blood stream and satisfies the brain’s need for sugar fuel without the large sugar spike in the blood, thereby satisfying the sweet tooth!

If you would like to try this natural trick for controlling your sweet tooth for yourself, ask our staff for a bottle of Gymnema and Inositol and give it a go!
